India Safari

A Different Kind of Wildlife Journey

From Bengal Tigers prowling ancient forests to Asiatic Lions, one-horned rhinos and elusive Snow Leopards high in the Himalayas, India offers wildlife experiences unlike anywhere else.

Journey through dramatically different landscapes, explore some of the country’s most remarkable reserves and discover a side of India that goes far beyond the expected.

Plan your safari

India brings together an extraordinary diversity of wildlife, landscapes and experiences within a single country.

In the forests of Central India, Bengal Tigers share their habitat with leopard, dhole, sloth bear, gaur and deer. Further west, Gujarat is home to the world’s last wild population of Asiatic Lions, while the grasslands and wetlands of Assam provide sanctuary for one-horned rhinos, elephants and wild buffalo.

Travel into the Himalayas and the experience changes again. Red Pandas can be tracked through the forests of the Eastern Himalayas, while the stark mountain landscapes of Ladakh and Spiti provide the setting for specialist expeditions in search of the elusive Snow Leopard.

And not every experience happens from a safari vehicle. India can also be explored by boat, canoe and on foot, creating wildlife journeys shaped around the species, landscapes and experiences that matter most to you.

From classic tiger safaris to specialist Himalayan expeditions, India offers a completely different way to experience the wild.

Why Choose India for Your Safari?

India isn’t defined by one safari experience.

Its wildlife regions stretch from the dry forests and grasslands of Central India to the wetlands of Assam, the river systems of the north and the remote mountain wilderness of the Himalayas.

That diversity means your journey can be centred around a particular species, a landscape you want to explore or simply a completely different style of wildlife adventure.

Whether your dream is watching a Bengal Tiger emerge from the forest, searching for Asiatic Lions in Gujarat, encountering rhinos in Kaziranga or tracking Snow Leopards through the mountains, India offers experiences that are both varied and deeply rewarding.

Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve_edited.jpg

Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve

Into the heart of tiger country.

One of Maharashtra’s most important tiger landscapes, Tadoba combines dry deciduous forest, teak and bamboo with grasslands, lakes and streams.

Bengal Tiger is the headline attraction, but the reserve also supports leopard, dhole, sloth bear, gaur, deer and a rich variety of smaller wildlife. Its mix of habitats makes every safari drive feel a little different.

Ranthambore National Park_edited.jpg

Ranthambore National Park

Where tigers roam among ancient ruins.

Ranthambore is one of India’s most distinctive wildlife landscapes, where dry deciduous forest, lakes, grasslands and rocky ridges are interspersed with historic ruins.

Bengal Tiger is the principal draw, but safaris can also reveal leopard, sloth bear, sambar, chital, nilgai, marsh crocodile and abundant birdlife.

The combination of wildlife and history gives the reserve a character all its own.

Corbett Tiger Reserve_edited.jpg

Corbett Tiger Reserve

Wild forests beneath the Himalayan foothills.

Corbett brings together forest, river landscapes and the foothills of the Himalayas in one of India’s classic wildlife destinations.

Jeep safaris explore the reserve in search of Bengal Tiger, Asian Elephant, leopard, deer and an exceptional variety of birdlife.

Longer stays allow time to experience different areas of the reserve rather than treating Corbett as a single safari stop.

Eastern Himalayas - Red Panda Country_edited.jpg

Eastern Himalayas - Red Panda Country

Into the misty forests in search of the elusive Red Panda.

This is a completely different kind of wildlife experience from India’s classic jeep safaris.

The journey heads through the Eastern Himalayas into the wider Singalila landscape, where local trackers search cool forests of bamboo, rhododendron and oak for Red Panda.

Days are deliberately unhurried, combining walking, 4x4 access, patient observation and outstanding Himalayan birdlife.

Pench Tiger Reserve_edited.jpg

Pench Tiger Reserve

Classic Central India tiger country.

Pench is a beautiful landscape of teak forest, open woodland and river valleys, with the Pench River running through the heart of the reserve.

Bengal Tiger is a major focus, alongside leopard, dhole, sloth bear, gaur and a wide variety of deer and birdlife.

It works particularly well as part of a wider Central India wildlife journey.

Kanha Tiger Reserve_edited.jpg

Kanha Tiger Reserve

Forests, meadows and the wild heart of Central India.

Kanha is a beautifully varied wilderness of sal and bamboo forest, open grasslands and sweeping meadows. Tiger remains a major focus, but Kanha is also especially known for the hard-ground barasingha, whose recovery has become one of the reserve’s defining conservation stories.

Open meadows, forest edges and watercourses support a diverse mix of predators and herbivores.

Gir National Park_edited.jpg

Gir National Park

The last wild stronghold of the Asiatic Lion.

Gir offers an experience found nowhere else in the world: the opportunity to search for Asiatic Lions in their only remaining wild stronghold.

Dry deciduous forest, teak woodland, scrub and seasonal watercourses support an unexpectedly diverse ecosystem, with leopard, striped hyena, sloth bear, jackal, crocodile, deer and antelope sharing the landscape with its famous lions.

Chambal River_edited.jpg

Chambal River

A safari where the river becomes the road.

Chambal offers a completely different kind of wildlife journey.

Instead of travelling through the landscape by jeep, guests explore the river by boat, moving quietly past sandbanks, channels and river edges in search of Gharial, Gangetic Dolphin, Indian Skimmer, turtles and specialist birdlife.

It is a slower, more intimate way to experience India’s wild side.

Velavadar National Park_edited.jpg

Velavadar National Park

Open grasslands and a different side of the wild.

A striking contrast to India’s forested tiger and lion reserves, Velavadar is characterised by sweeping grasslands, saline plains and low scrub. It is particularly renowned for Blackbuck, with Indian Wolf, Striped Hyena, fox, Nilgai and specialist grassland birds also found here.

In winter, the open plains are especially rewarding for raptors, adding yet another dimension to the wildlife experience.

Satpura Tiger Reserve_edited.jpg

Satpura Tiger Reserve

Explore the wild beyond the safari vehicle.

Satpura offers one of India’s more varied wildlife experiences, with opportunities to explore by jeep as well as on foot and, where conditions allow, by canoe or boat.

Its forests, hills and waterways create a more active style of safari, particularly appealing to travellers looking for something beyond the traditional game-drive experience.

Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve_edited.jpg

Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve

Ancient landscapes. Legendary tiger country.

Bandhavgarh combines rich wildlife with an unmistakable sense of history. Forest, grassland, rocky terrain and water sources lie beneath the ancient Bandhavgarh Fort, creating one of India’s most atmospheric safari settings.

Tiger is the main attraction, while leopard, wild dog, sloth bear, gaur, chital, sambar and a wealth of birdlife add depth to every drive.

Kaziranga National Park_edited.jpg

Kaziranga National Park

Rhino country on the floodplains of Assam.

Vast elephant grass, wetlands, swamps, riverine forest and open floodplains make Kaziranga feel dramatically different from India’s central tiger reserves.

It is particularly renowned for the Greater One-Horned Rhinoceros, while Asian Elephant, Wild Water Buffalo, Swamp Deer and Bengal Tiger also inhabit the reserve.

Its open landscapes and exceptional birdlife make it one of India’s great large-mammal wilderness experiences.

Ladakh — Snow Leopard Country_edited.jpg

Ladakh — Snow Leopard Country

In search of the Grey Ghost of the Himalayas.

High in Ladakh’s stark mountain wilderness, the safari vehicle gives way to a very different kind of wildlife expedition.

Local trackers, spotters and naturalists use fresh signs, prey movements and knowledge of the terrain to search for Snow Leopard, alongside Himalayan Ibex, Blue Sheep, Tibetan Wolf and specialist mountain birdlife.

The experience is as much about the landscape and the search as the eventual sighting.

Spiti – Snow Leopard Country_edited.jpg

Spiti – Snow Leopard Country

A true winter expedition into the high Himalayas.

The remote valleys around Chicham and Kibber provide the setting for one of India’s most specialist wildlife adventures.

Rather than following fixed safari routes, local trackers use fresh signs, prey movements and recent sightings to determine where each day’s search will lead.

Snow Leopard is the principal focus, alongside Blue Sheep, Himalayan Ibex, Tibetan Wolf and high-altitude birdlife, all surrounded by Spiti’s dramatic cold-desert landscape.

Dudhwa National Park & the Terai_edited.jpg

Dudhwa National Park & the Terai

Deep forests, wetlands and rare wildlife.

Dudhwa lies within the rich Terai landscape of northern India, where forests, grasslands and wetlands support an impressive variety of wildlife.

Tiger, leopard, Greater One-Horned Rhinoceros, Asian Elephant and Swamp Deer are among the highlights, alongside exceptional birdlife.

Longer stays allow the surrounding Dudhwa and Kishanpur landscapes to be explored at a more unhurried pace.
